DG3 Survey: Whos got it? Who's likes it?
#1
Hey I'm considering upgrading from the original Holeshot to the DG3, I've seen the data on it and what its supposed to do. But I want to hear experience and opinions! Whos got one??

thanks Mike, yeah my current holeshot whoops a stocker 0-30 by 3-4 lengths, I'm wondering about that acceleration 40-60mph. How do you know it runs cooler, do you have a gauge?

The fan runs way less. It used to run for 1-2 minutes after stopping on the slower sections of trails now it only runs for a few seconds or not at all. That was the main reason I got it so I've been watching that part of it.

I have thought about it but i'm not convinced that Kawasaki has done anything to detune the 360 from a timing perspective. The main reason is we are in an apartment right now and I have no test area until the new house is done (in the fall) without going to a trail and the last thing I want to do is screw up the ATV and no be able to ride after driving to a trail. Plus i'm trying not to void the extended warranty we paid dearly for on the 360.

I can understand that---newbeatle is supposed to loan me one toward the end of the month, and definitely looking forward to it.

Howdy gang,
I have the DG3 & it is great. It has as much if not more low end punch than the Holeshot. Where the Holeshot would run out of steam the DG3 is still pullingw all the way to redline. We ran 2 Holeshot modded 03 model 650s and they ran 300' within a half length of each other. We changed the Holeshot for a DG3 on one of them and ran them again. There were about 5 lengths difference in 300' then. I have one on an 02 model and without the degree key it will not respond like the 03 model. Both quads start easier and run cooler. That is especially noticeable on the 02 model. The fan runs about 1/3 as much as it did before the DG3 installation. About the only difference in the Dyna cdi and the DG3 is that the cdi will give more top speed. The DG3 does maintain all factory safety features. Have a goodun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I wasnt going to post this in here but I might as well now. I copied and pasted it from another forum.
I did the test on Sunday. Got back late Sunday night and worked 7 to 7 today so Im just now getting around to posting this. All in all, I hate to say it but the Dyna cdi is a little faster than the DG3. But, anyone will have to be the judge to if its worth the extra money. Here are the results.
Test were on dirt at 350' with pictures of the drag strip coming tomorrow night.
I did a couple of practice runs to get my starting technique down and then did 5 runs with the Dynatek and then 5 with the DG3. I did the riding and my brother in law "the one who helped me with my spring test" did the timing.
Dynatek runs were:
7.11
7.09
7.15
7.12
7.10
For an average time of 7.114
DG3 runs were:
7.19
7.15
7.20
7.18
7.16
For an average time of 7.174
So the Dyna is around .06 faster. Although it is faster and I admit that, is it worth the money? To me it isnt. This is with a 2002 P650 also. Don says the 03 P650 and P700 will see more improvement than my 02 will. ALSO, I got my degree key in and will do the same test again minus the CDI next time I go to VA. I would bet money with the 4 degree key the DG4 will pass the Dynatek in speed and already reliability.
Well, there it is. If anyone has any questions just ask.
