stock speeds from p700's? and what do you get with a new jet?
I've had my p-700 now for about a month and love it. I plan on doing a lot of hunting with it this fall and Not that i'll need it while hunting but Just curious what kinda top end speed i'm going to see. So far I haven't hit a straight away long enough to open er up. Also i live in Colorado and mostly ride between 4000-6000ft, however I do a lot of guided hunting above 10,000ft. Two weeks ago I re-jetted it with a 130-132 (I think those #s are right) anyhow it ran great above 10,000 and runs great back home between 4 and 6000. Should I put the stock jets back in when I'm ridding at home even though it runs great or do i truely have nothing to worry about as far as causing damage to the motor. Also the few times I have opened it up and then let off the gas real quick to slow her down I get a loud smack of a backfire. It has only happened like 3 times. It was always under the 10hr breakin with the stock jets so I never got above half throttle so I don't know if it will do it with the stock jets. Any suggestions?

The backfire or popping through the exhaust when the throttle is shut is caused by a lean idle circuit, set your idle-speed a little faster than normal and adjust the pilot fuel screw's 1/4 or 1/2 turn at a time till you get the greatest engine speed then readjust the idle back to where it was, and do all this when the engine is worm to. My top speed stock on flat blacktop is 64 mph same as the other p700's I ride with. I rejeted and was able to get there a little faster but top speed is the same due to the CDI. I put the DynaFS CDI on it and now it run's 67 mph. Hope this is some help to you.
