Default Has anyone tried this to increase prairie performance?

I removed the clean out plug from the exhaust to clean out the pipe as the manual says to do every so often. I then ran my 700 without the plug in it hoping to blow out any further debris. Whether it was just my imagination or not, the take off felt snapper then with the plug in. The pipe also produces a little bit louder, throater sound thats pretty cool. If in fact it does give better performance with the plug out and besides riding through high water, does anyone think there is any harm in running without the plug? I have a K&N airfilter, modified snorkle,DG3 module and stock jets. I think with the increased air flow, having the plug out allows the pipe to be less restictive which gives alittle added performance. Also with these mods I left the stock jets in becouse they were brown in color. If I were to go up one size would I notice better performance even though it appears to run fine with the stock jets? Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

Here is something else you can do to the muffler.

I have seen lot of people run with the plugs out, but unless you ride in an area where noise is a proplem, the famous Nyroc muffler mod, makes as much power as an aftermarket exhaust.

Taking the plug out does help some, but unless you get more air in and out you don't gain much.

Nyroc muffler mod, dg snorkel, K&n filter and jets are some of the least expensive and most productive mods you can get.

I removed my plug and it looks like it is sealed up, there is no hole into the muffler. Maybe it is just clogged up from not being drained?

Early this year I did the Napa hose mod to my 650 Praire. No real increase noticed.
I linked to this site after someone posted an ATV question elsewhere, for giggles I took out the plug this morning for a quick run.
wow, a real felt difference. Mostly was just going to blow the muff out. Wheel spinning sliding turns and a wheelie on asphault greeted me with this simple plug-b-gone. I guess the napa mod didnt work without an increase in exhaust, eh?
So, how do I make it quieter AND maintain the increase?
After seeing really how easy it was to remove the muff, band saw off the back and weld it up, I have hope.
Anything think I could find an OEM something to replace the factory muff with? Do auto muffs have 'spark arrestors'? I guess I do that mod of putting a screen over the back maybe.
thanks, looking for something much quieter to sneak up on tresspassers!

If you guys send me your e-mail addresses, I have a clip of my 650 with a modified exhaust. You can hear for yourself what it sounds like.

crawdaddy,You are right when you take the the plug out the hole may be sealed up with a hard carbon material that came from inside the pipe. Just use a poker or flat screwdriver and clean it out.
