new owner just did inside cv boot
Went around a puddle and it literally pulled me in. A good 45 degree angle. left handle bar in water. just about
tipped it in. Stood on right running board and got pulled out. didn't even get wet!! Tore the inside boot tho. lucky I
noticed it. muffler shot out water about ten turns off the motor. no water in air box or oil. Lucky!!!
Took off tire, axel nut 27 mm, and caliper ( probably didn't have to on the caliper)
took off front bumper and skid plate
removed 2 a-arm bolts and pulled a arm out to side and axel came out of spindle area
yanked on axel, popped out
remove large ring with small screwdriver
pulled out bearing cage
remove small c clip with c clip pliers and small screwdriver
take apart cage cleaned with wire wheel and steel wool because of some rust.
clean and grease real good, put back together
epi boot kit slide on boot before putting cage on axel
grease up real good and put bands on with tool in kit
had to trim boot a little on big end get air out directions say but my boot is a little collapsed
make sure boot fits nice before clamping down
pretty easy, took me 3 hours but next time a hour for sure. Wonder what a dealer charges?
