Default Vforce question please help.

I really appreciate any help I can get on this.

I have a stock Vforce. My vforce did not idle properly. Each time I used the choke to start the bike it would idle high for about 20 seconds and then die out. When I took off the choke and idled the bike it would sputter and stall out. The bike did not start without the choke on.

HERE IS WHAT I DID:

I checked the carb air mixture screw and from the factory. Kawasaki set front carb air miture screw to 3/4 turns out and the rear was set 1 and 1/2 turns out. I found out that the factory settings should be 1 and 1/2 turns out on both carb air mixture screws. I adjusted the air mixture screws and set each carb to 1 and 1/2 turns out setting. The bike starts in 80 degree weather without the choke and idles fine.

Here are my qestions:

Is it normal for the bike to start in warmer weather without the assit of the Choke?

Lets say I had to adjust the front carb 1/4 turn out. Do i need to adjust the rear carb also? Can both carbs have different air mixture settings?

Yes it will start without the choke most of the time in warm weather. I think you did the correct thing by readjusting your screws.

Did it backfire alot when you were going fast and letting off the throttle?

Default Vforce question please help.

Once the bike warmed up it seemed to be riding fine. I was very suprised, at first I thought it was the choke cable. It would hic up alot while on Idle and the Idle adjustment did not help at all.

Thanks for your post... Can I have different Air Mixture settings on each carb??

You will have different mixtures on each carb. There is a method to go by for setting these screws . Do a search under "screw" and you will find the info you need

Default Vforce question please help.

I found this post back in april is this the correct way to ajust the air mixture:

I have never figured out why people are still counting turns on their idle mixture screws (fudge method). The idle mixture needs to be adjusted, not fudged.

Use the 1/4 turn past the fastest idle method. Turn one of them way in (so that engine slow a lot, then slowly back it out until you just reach the fastest idle. Then go 1/4 past that. Then do it again on the second screw. If the idle speed is too fast afterwards turn the speed down too.

With all the mods we do, and all the different elevations and different ways of spraying air filter oil on, we should never just turn the screws a certain number. They should always be adjusted. Now, if 1/4 still backfires, maybe try more. But they should be adjusted, not just turned
