Default Prairie Questions???

I just recently bought a prairie 700, and I have a few quesitons about them. I read a while back about how the stock cdi on the 650 and 700 prairies retard the timing until about 10 mph, and how you can buy an after market cdi to correct this. By correcting the retarded timing it is suppose to help the prarie take off much quicker. Is this correct, and how much does it really help?

I did a search on the topic but couldn't find a lot of info. So which cdi is the best? I saw a high lifter icm (i think it was called) that was suppose to correct this problem, and since it is a lot cheaper then a cdi I was leaning in this direction. Is the high lifter icm any good?

What seems to be the concensious on the best method to correct the problem (icm vs cdi) to get the best gain in power?

Also how are the reliability of these cdi's? I read a couple times about how some cause the engine to kick back at start up. Are some cdi's more prone to this? I don't want to buy one if it will cause the engine to kick back, and result in reliability issues later on.

Thanks.

Default Prairie Questions???

I"ve got 200 miles on my Dyna CDI. The power increase is very nice! I have had it kickback only 2 times, and it wasn't severe. Hasn't happened in a long time. I just went on a ride in central Utah, twice we went to 10,000 feet. We rode 120 miles that weekend, no problems at all.
