rear axle boot question, from new member :)

First of all, I think this site is AWESOME!! I have searched for a good Kawasaki Forum for a long time now. This one rocks!! I have a total of 6 ATV's and bikes including Kawasaki, Suzuki and Polaris. I just got the two Kawasakis about a month ago. An '02 Bayou and a '97 300 4x4. I noticed a torn rubber boot on the rear axle shaft of the '97 300 machine. I did a search but didn't find any post relating to the procedure for replacing that thing.
Is that a CV joint there?? It seems to me to be a rather unlikely spot for a CV and more likely would be be a U joint. But then it seems odd they would put a boot over a U joint. Hmmmm. Anyway, thanks in advance for any ideas and kudos on a great forum!!!

The torn boot allows dirt to contaminate the swingarm bearings. They are easy to grease, and the boot has to come off to do it. See the following article
