Why don't Kawasakis sell as well as most other brands?

I don't get it? Kawasaki makes fine quads, has a reliable dealer network, makes parts affordable and readily available, advertise a lot, etc. yet they seem to sell far fewer Quads than other brands, Japanese and domestic. These days brand loyality is ridiculous as all the Japanese stuff is of high quality. But why does Kawasaki seem to consistently lag behind in sales?

I think they just need to be more well known? I mean up to about 3 years ago (i would have been 16)I hadnt even heard of Kawasaki before. Their first biggest step was their Prairie series. I heard TONS of good stuff about them. But strangely enough now that you mention it I dont remember them selling that fast........I dunno a puzzling question. I buy the quad that has the best visual appeal, type of performance, and overall feel. Yamaha seems to have my riding ergonomics I dont really feel comfortable on anything else? I dunno go ahead and get all upset and use the label "brand loyal" all you want. However I did like the 400ex. I only got to sit on a Prairie but they seemed pretty close to what I like. (I dont care for auto's though) But I dunno I think you have a good question here......All there quads seem pretty good? I think with the introduction of all the new bikes lately it goes like this unless you have the NEWER quad in the line up you arent going to get publicity. A lot of people are just out to get the "latest and greatest" and over look the simple shopping method of WHAT IS BEST FOR ME? Just my 2 cents. Yes all I have owned are Yamaha's but at the time I got my Wolverine I had looked at a Prairie but like I said auto's arent for me or else who knows I might have had one! Just enjoy your bike cause you know you have what is best for you and let all the people out there chase these new "latest and greatest" quads around. =-)

I agree we have a dealer here, Kawasaki street bikes are really popular, I only no one person with a Kawsaki a 2000 Praire 2 wheel drive 300. Nice ATV. The Kawasaki dealer is aslo the Honda and AC dealer here in town, that might have something to do with it.

It seems that Kawasaki has suffered from staying with a product line that hasn't changed much over the years. For example, the Bayou line is now over ten years old. While people like me see this as evidence of proven reliability, it turns off many potential buyers who want a new model that fewer people own. No doubt too that Kawasaki has taken a hit for remaining more loyal to the utility market as evidenced by their continued production of the Mule. Compare this to Polaris who quickly came out with new models to attract the sport/utility market. I can remember when Polaris models were very popular even though they had severe problems with quality assurance.

Kawasakis problem is not their quality. The build Quads just as good as the outher jap brands. Their problem stems from a lack of inovation and an unexciting product line. They also dont seem want to give people the products they really want or features they want. I was really intrested in the prarie 400 and 300. But the lack of an EBS system and no ability to change from 2wd to 4wd lead me to a yamaha. I think they have a lack of focus on the overall market. They make all their money off dirtbikes and road bikes. But little money off their quads. So they see quads as less important to research and designe. I think no one told them that quads sell more then dirt and road bikes combined. Look at their new for 2000 lakota ????? same quad new color and racks cost extra now ???? what was the point. They should have taken the KDX300 cylinder and topend and put that on the lakotas trans that would be new and improved.
