Default Engine Questions

I have a 2001 mojave and i was wondering how hard it would be to take apart the engine and put it back together so it runs. It makes a clicking noist in 2nd gear, that i want to check out, and i think i have piston slap, that i want to check. I have had exprience with engines, but mainly just on 2-strokes, and small 4-strokes. I have a clymer manual. THANX
