KFX 400 vs. KFX 700
From what I have read and seen the 700 will be faster but IMO the KFX400 will make a better trail bike because of its size unless your a larger person. The 700 is automatic so you wont get the cramping of you hand from working the clutch. Im personally a smaller guy and after owning a DS650 Im sold on smaller bikes. I couldnt throw the DS around like I could a 400 and also the size limited my trail riding abilities some what.

Hey listen the 700 is not faster than the 400 its all in the driver. I can tell you right now the 400 is faster from first hand expreince, especially when modded. My buddy has had two kfx-700 and i have had two kfx-400 and each of my kfx-400 were faster. Plus the kfx-400 is about 150 pounds lighter.

I've ridden the 400 and own a 700. First things I would consider is cost of maintenence. The 400 is built by Suzuki which has not received any frame updates from what I can tell. Throw in $600 for a gusset kit and you'll be up to the price of the 700.
If weight is not an issue, I'd go with the 700. For an auto tranny, it's a blast to ride. The 700 has ITP Holeshots stock. One other draw back is it can be a thirsty machine. Toss in a few bills for the larger gas tank from IMS (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Lep7mm-
They have fixed the frames, the '04's were the first year to be fixed. I have an '03 and instead of buying those overpriced gusset kits I had re-enforced welds added on for $10. You could drop my quad off a cliff and I bet everything on my bike would break except where those welds are.
It's not as big of a deal as most make it out to be. Unless you plan on hardcore racing day in and day out, you have nothing to worry about.

My fried has a stock '04 Z400 and he can not beat my stock 700.
Another friend who is a great rider and alot better than me has a Sparks piped '03 Z400. If I holeshot him, he can not catch me. If he holeshots me, I can not catch him. That seems almost dead even to me.
