Default Muffler Mod. on a p700

I want to mod. my 700 muffler but It I thought that read a post that said the mufflers are different on the 650 and the 700. If they are has anyone done any modding to it? I don't want to cut the end off and then find out it can't be done.

I just did mine and it is very easy to do. it is the same as the 650 and it sounds like a harley after it is done.

I did the muffler mod but am now concerned throwing a spark and starting a fire. I am thinking about a hmf ecosystem so it will be quieter.

Travelor. Did you install the keyway before or after the DG3 and did you see any difference? My 700 is stock with the DG3, I want to mod the pipe,Twin-Air,Napa and maybe a keyway if it worth it. I know it is cheap but I need a puller.

I had the same concerns before doing my Nyroc mod...so I installed a stainless steel screen (with about 1/8" openings) to the inside of my muffler end cap to act as a home-made spark arrestor. I can't guarantee that it will stop all sparks, but I'm sure it helps.

Happy trails...

I've posted this before, but without offense to anyone, I'm going to post it again due to fire safety in the woods.

My dealer tells me that he has tested all of the muffler mods on a dyno over the past two years and has seen no improvement on the dyno from any of them. He flat out told me when I was talking to him about doing a muffler mod, that it was a waste of time and momey.

I have yet to see anyone come on here and state specific dyno hp gains from installing a legal muffler mod. Again, no offense, but that's what his tests show.

Not saying that the dyno is wrong, but with the Nyroc mod on my 700, i have gained 3 kmh top end at least. Before the mod, the most I could get out of it was 96 kmh. After the mod I am getting 99 kmh and ran out of room. I don't need a dyno to tell my my machine is faster after the mod, my eyes tell me it is.

asnowmobiler, I haven't had my key installed yet, Been trying to get it in for the dealer to do for quiet some time, maybe monday. I hope it helps. I may of wasted money again by ordering the hmf ecosystem exhaust. They say 4 hp gain but if it will be a noticeable improvement, i will be happy at least I will quit worrying about sparks.
