A-Man... SHOTGUN is the man... but a few tips of mine... 1-2 PSI is likely too low... if the pressure is too low, the tread will cup up, in the center, & cause your contact patch to be hollow ( less surface area ), & you'll get less traction... you really need to put your face in the dirt, to "look" at the contact patch, to see how low you can go...
even with my BBK, I still pull in low range... you'll likey want to run low gears in everything
if they are not weighing the quads, you'll need to add as much weight as possible, just to reach the starting weight of the Polaris's ( put lead in your pockets if you have to, or in your storage box under the seat, if they are not weighing them ) fill the gas tank full to the top...
look at the pulling track, & if at all possible stay out of the loose ruts from other pullers

Shotgun,
Thanks for the advice. I had thought that 4wd high would have meant less wheel spin. I will take your advice and pull in 4wd low. Hitch must be stock and in stock location per the rules for this pull. As for weight, they will weigh all quads, with their riders, in each class. The heaviest quad sets the standard. If you weigh less, you may add weight (they provide 25 lb and 50 lb sand bags) to come to the weight of the heaviest quad. I will add any weight to the front rack. I had a thought about hanging 50 lbs of free weights (barbell weights) from my winch hook to give extra weight up front and down low. Do you think that would work?

newbeatle,
Thanks for the advice as well. I will check my tires out. Right now, I am running 4.5 psi and the sides round up a little bit. I will see what they look like w/ 3 psi in them. As for weighing of quads, see what I posted already. I will add as much weight as I can at the beginning, as it only sets the bar for other quads and I am sure that I will be pulling against one or two Polaris 700's. Thanks for all the advice! I will be sure to post back on the results come Thursday morning.

As long as you weigh the same as the Polaris 700's, you will take them out, no problem.

I was just rereading the pull rules. I will not be able to use my own ball. They provide a clevis that you must use on the stock hitch point. No jerking of the chain is allowed, so all slack must be taken up before WOT. Also, you must use the weight they provide (sandbags) and cannot use your own weights. I am going to attach weights to my winch hook before weigh in and see if they will allow that. That way I will have weight down low and as far out in front as I can get it.

novakawi650 i shouldnt say kawituner is going to be mad but iam running a dg3 timing module. It helps on the bottom but the big secret is behind the clutch cover i will tell you its all dalton ind. stuff. If you get your clutches right on for pulling you are in. + like shotgun said look the track over real hard studie it good this aslo helps alot ever pull i did i drove the bike to the end then looked ever thing over good then backed up to the drag. Theres alot of little things that make a diff. One good thing is the kaw650+700 has lots of low-mid range power stock were the grizz. stock dont have i guess thats y they go to a 750 big bore for pulling all i can say is iam happy that my stock motor beat the big grizz. boys + iam happy i beat my friends bike that had a cdi box on. Trust me its all in the clutch work. I used to race snow sleds in the stock class we used to go test at this lake were alot of local guys would go to race there buddys on sunday when we finished up testing i would ask can i make a run against that zrt 800 tripple with the pipes thats been beting ever one all day long dad said yes so i go and run him in the 660 feet that we test for raceing i would beat him by 3-4 sled legs with my stock 700 tripple mach1 that we had work so hard on for clutching it got me 4 canadian world series in quebec. So practice your clutching good then you'll be good in the end
