Default Starving for fuel?

Well, went to ride my Bayou today, fired right up rode it for maybe 5 minutes when it suddenly dies? So try starting it and if I choke it it will run until I turn the choke off? It has a electric fuel pump, could I have a bad connection or a bad battery or should my motors genorator keep it going once the fourwheelers started? Any help would be appritiated. Brandon

Think you need to clean the carb. If it will run on choke untill you turn the choke off then the battery is not the problem. Drain the bowl on the carb then try it, you might get lucky. If that doesn't help you will have to remove and clean the carb.

Ok ill look at the vent lines. I started cleaning the carb. this morning figured I might as well check over everything in it. Does anyone know much about these fuel pumps? Thanks for your replys ,also when you change your fourwheelers engine oil do you have to pprime the pickup tubes?

you don't have to prime an in-tank fuel pump. yours IS in-tank, right? I am only familiar with the big Priaries(V-Twins). You can test pump capacity/pressure by removing the fuel supply lie from the tank, and replacing it with a hose to a container that is graduated, so that you can measure flow. The fuel pump should run with the ign. key in the "RUN", I think. If it doesn't work, try starting/idling the engine. Engine MAY have to be running to energize fuel pump circuit.

If it will run with the choke but dies, when its not on, then its not the fuel pump. Sounds like a plugged pilot jet.
