Default Dyna cdi or DG3

Im looking at getting one of the 2 I no the dg3 would work for me not worried about top speed but it sounds like it needs the 4 dgr key to change that you need a puller 35 bucks plus shipping gaskets oil antifreeze and the key 20 bucks so the price is getting near the cdi box. But if the cdi needs the key 2 then thats more money so i would go with the dg3 I could use some thougts on this. And is there a automotive tipe puller that might work Thanks steve

Howdy,
Unless you are in competition, the DG3 will give you all the power that you want. I put one on an 03 and it really woke it up. Like you I am not too concerned with 2 or 3 mph on the top end. If you are putting it on an 03 model, you probably wont need the key. Have a goodun!!!!!!

Im running the CDI and Im very happy with proformance.. Ive thought about the 4* key along with it? But have yet to really talk to someone running both? Keys only cost $12. bucks, Whos selling for 20? There milkin 8 bucks out of you~LOL. Ive ridden with someone having the DG3 and I would pass on it and get the CDI. IMO the CDI is better.
But What do I know?~lol ~coop

I have both cdi and key.The key added more overall power to the cdi.It seems to be not to much timing .My plugs are fine in all the ranges.I think its worth adding for all it costs .It made my 650p pull alittle omre in the mid to top with the key added to the cdi.I'm running 94 octane and a little klothz octane booster

I kinda like the reverse limiter and belt saftey feature. I am running the DG3 without the key for now and I can't see how more bottom end power could be usefull unless you are running really heavy tires.

I have the DG3 with 4 degree key and am totally satisfied with it. Only way I would buy the Dyna CDI "again" was if I needed more rpms with the 765 FST kit. Everyone says I will and I will cross that bridge when I get there. As for now, with what I have, the DG3+key is all I need.
