honda, you can torture those things and they just keep on going. but IMO they lag behind in a good all around quad these days. polaris and kawi may not be quite as bulletproof, but overall they have more features, more power, and are better riding.

If you stick to the low end models(recon/rancher), Honda wins hands down....if you are looking at Utility 4X4s mid range (Foremans) Honda wins....if you are looking at Big Bores (Rincon/Rubicon) Honda is about 3rd place.
Honda has veered into the world of progress (water cooling and automatic trannies) which in my opinion has caused them problems with their iron clad 'bulletproof' machines..
The Honda Rancher and Recon are probably the most bulletproof ATVs on the market today. The Recons are used by the military/police/and beach patrols....they are pretty tough. Neither of the above models have water cooling or auto trannies..
Honda also keeps a good reputation for being reliable by waiting until someone else comes out with a product, then they test it for a year and bring it out a year later.
Kawasaki and Suzuki like to show off their new bells and whistles before testing as much as Honda probably does, and the nod can go to Honda for fixing problems before they release a product.
In everyday terms you have to ask yourself: If you had to buy a new car soon...
Brand A: Car has 80HP and will go 70MPH, engine is made to not over-rev so it will last a long time.. it has 3 simple gears that are boring but get the job done. This car will last you as long as you can stand it. You cant modify it without something going wrong, so you should leave it alone. It gets you to work and the store without a flaw, no worries. If this is your kind of car, buy a Honda ATV
Brand B: Car has 100HP will go 80MPH stock, but if you go to the bad part of town you can get it hopped up and it will go 100MPH. It has 5 gears, you have a ton of fun driving it, and people seem to recognize you when you drive this car. You have to do a few things to keep this car in peak condition, but hey its fun and you want to be in control of your power and all that...If this is your kind of car buy a Kawasaki or Suzuki.
Brand C: Car has 90HP will go 70MPH. Everyone you work with has this kind of car and you want to be just like them. You all complain that it is too heavy, and it breaks down alot, but nobody wants to get anything different, you want to keep trading in for the same kind of car over and over, just to be like everyone else. The mods are useless and you keep buying stuff but it doesnt help, it hurts your car.. but you want to keep buying anyway... If this is your kind of car buy a Polaris or Yamaha.
