Do you loose acceleration, how many mph gain can you expect? Is ths a long job like the dealer told me?

You will gain acceleration. If your tuning is correct you will be into the rev limiter on flat ground. If you want much more top speed and have retarded the cam timing, you need some clutch work, or Dyna CDI, or even better - both. The job will take several hours, unless you have done it a couple of times already.

Thanks novakaw650, How many degrees to you retard it. I think I will try to get a dealer to do it, but will have to tell him what I want.

Mine is at V-Force specs (10 degrees), others have gone as far as 20 degrees. 20 is one tooth on the cam sprocket, 10 requires moving the chain on the intermediate shaft sprocket.

Will this mod work well without changing cam? Did you notice a couple mph gain. I am not sure when or if I ever hit the rev limiter?

You've got a lot of work and money sunk into mods already. I think you should sort out what you've got done and get it working the way it should, and then do the cams, imo.

Oh yeah, going to an aftermarket cam is best, if you've got the bux. But retiming the stock cam is a great powermaker for little cost.

Thanks for all the good info. novakaw650. Is there any gaskets I may need to order before tearing into it? You are right it may not be worth the extra gain of the cam over the timing for the 200 dollar cams.
