KFX700 hesitates after K&N
#1
I had my 700 running great then I managed to mess it up by adding a K&N filter. It doens't seem near as peppy, it used to feel like it was pulling my arms off. I removed the filter lid and it was much much worse. I have dual HMF pipes 145/148 jets at 42000 feet. So logically I am running a bit lean with the addition of greater air flow and I should need to jet up to increase my fuel to get my performance back. The question is....how much bigger do I need to go? If someone out there has gone thru the same situation I would appreciate your help....otherwise I guess I will just start swapping jets until it runs right.....thanks!

the only way to really get your jetting spot on for your location and what you do is to play with it gradually increase in size and keeping checking the spark plugs(you can tell alot from their color) until your lean condition begins to level out..if you notice that it became rich...back down1-2 sizes and that should definately help your prob...

Oh ya, its running lean. And removing the air box lid and having it run worse...confirms it.
If you have a flat spot , off idle, then its the mixture adjustment, and if you need to be about 4 turns out or more, then you need bigger pilot jets.
Almost certainly, you need bigger main jets, they arent that expensive, buy one up and two up, sizes, and if you havent added pipes, one or the other should get it .
Heres an article on jetting that may help.

Them slides require a little restriction above them to get the slides to work properly and open quick thats why it gets lazy with the element out a lot of streetbikes are the same way hope this helps

I think your biggest problem is that you're riding at 42,000 feet! I believe you are violating some FAA restrictions. Better check, you may need to formally file a flight plan each time you ride!

I agree with metal thats crazy 42,000 ft., I just added a Kand N with outerwears a few days ago and its much more "peppy", so I don't know whats going on but have you tried putting the stock back on, maybe something else happened?? I'm not sure just my 2 cents

Yeh, something is f^cked up. My V ran a touch better when I installed my K&N. But hey, when your 42,000 fcking feet in the sky, you tend to starve yourself of a little oxygen.

You guys can't get that high?....maybe I should sell my jetting secrets. The only problem is the extra weight associated with taking an oxygen tank with you.
Sorry about the extra 0.....I deserve it.
