Default Brute Force owners - what is the top speed?

Did I hear something about the Brute having a lightweight crank, that it was weaker than the 650 & 700?

On my BF I clocked 74mph on a paved straightaway. I have the highlifter module in it, but I ordered the dyna cdi and plugged it in and left the module in too it runs fine.

Brute Force top speed is faster than the King. If the King goes 72 then the Brute goes 75 if the King goes 90 then the Brute goes 95.

Moose Unit,
You're always saying the BruteForce is better than any other IRS machine, even better than the incredible KingQuad coming out! Well, I also think your right!! 700cc is a lots for a single cylinder even if it has a huge counterbalancer, EFI and uses motorcycle high performance technology to smoothen the engine. In my opinion any engine having more than 500cc should start having more than one cylinder if you are talking performance and reliability. Look at any high performance motorcycle over 500cc they all least two or four cylinders to keep their engines reliable and only run on pavement. Here, we are talking about 700cc and one cylinder. We drive on all kinds of terrain and demand a lots from our engines and put then through all kinds of situations which would also require a well design engine with multiple cylinders to survive theses harsh situations. Suspension is suppose to be more stable on the Incredible King Quad. Well, for me it is easier to change my suspension set-up on my bike then changing its engine for a better one.

Machine the clutch sheives and face plate on any of the 650 and 700s and set the top end where you want it .043 off the shieves and plate yielded me 70mph + so it gained 7mph over stock I did not like the experience of running this fast 75mph easy but not with me on any of em, there just not made for this kind of speed I am not sure about the brute clutchs if they can can accept this mod or not if the belt trace marks are not to the top on the drive pulley then there is more to be had but you got to be careful on this mod just by looking if you take too much it could bottom out in the secondary and cause all kinds of problems so a well used belt would be needed I have heard of guys hitting 80mph with this mod Not me though....JH

Got off work, picked it up and tried it out in the rain. 50 to 60mph times are considerably faster, about the same as 40 to 50mph times. It now pulls hard to 60mph, but my top speed was the same. Previously I would hit 64mph at 7900RPM (just into the rev limiter), I'm now showing 64mph at 7600rpm's, so I know the clutch work has had an effect. In fairness, where I'm trying it is only about 1/4 mile long and slightly uphill at both ends, I need to get to a long, flat stretch of road to try it. The biggest difference that I saw was when driving on a uphill stretch of road; in the past I only got 96km (59mph), it now gets up to 101kph (61.5mph).
Time to check my tuning, and I'd like to try a 360 belt and maybe go to 80 thou on the sheaves. Would I do it again? Good gains for little money, maybe even better gains with the proper tuning.

ALL THE ABOVE post was from a guy who did his clutches. There are several more PMs from him but he did gain any top speed.

Im still thinking about doing the clutch mod though. If I do decide to do it, it has to be done today or tomorrow though. Then I will see for sure what it does for me.

Kissofdeath,
I had a snowsled tuning shop do by clutch mods and it was worth every penny!! Top speed moved from 106km/h to 122km/h giving me much more available power to play with from 75km/h to 110km/h.

Yeah, I have decided to get the machining done. I removed the primary tonight. I never could get the two sheaves apart so Im gonna let the guy mill .060" off the movable sheave and the cover plate. I think this will work as it wont effect the angle of the sheaves at all.
