650 AC BELT PROBLEM
ok i know this is a kawi forum but i heard that you are the best people to talk about my belt burning problems i took out the small shim and put a black spring in the secondary clutch and i went out on a hardcore mudrun and when i was going slow through alot of that stuff in tall grass water and floating bog my belt kept squeeling and i could smell burn rubber so obviously i was burning my belt i heard that if a person puts a 700 prarie belt on it is wider and that would help or any other info would be greatly appreciated thanx

the 700p belt will help a little. but first you have to find your problem. are you getting water into you belt cover? how many miles do you have on the belt and how often did you check it? some ppl here the belt squelling and think thats the time to tighten it, but in fact they were over do to tighten it.

hey deer no water getting in i burned the belt after i put the big tires on my 650 and then i put in the secondary spring and took out the small shim and a new belt and when i got in the real hardcore stuff and had to drive really slow the belt squeeled and it was burning cause i could smell the burnt rubber and i always run in low range with it i have heard a red spring in the motor clutch will help this and i am just wondering what you guys have done cause well i guess kawi sent the engine tranny combo's to arctic cat looser then what you guys got on the prarie's and well you don't wanna know how much this disgusts me for kawasaki to do something like this i dunno if they weren't thinking or they were just being childish but i just desperately need help i live 15 miles from the polaris factory and i need my machine at the top of it's game at all times cause i primarily run against ppl who are polaris test drivers engineers and ect. and i have 1200 miles on mine but about 400 miles since i got the new belt and tightened this one up

did you check your deflection when you put the new belt in and removed the shims?
i dont run larger tires. many ppl here run them with no problems. maybe you should look into a bigger stall spring for your primary clutch, which would give you more rpm and power at take off.

actually suzuki i don't think even owns 15 percent of arctic cat anymore they are buying out the shares but i have heard of people using the red spring and i have heard of people using the pink spring for their primary clutch which would be better like you said kicks in at higher rpms snaps the clutch harder and engages it harder and thanx for the info on the belt any tidbit of info helps
