Friggin 4x4 Actulator

hey you guys make sure that you check the grounds on your bike.my dealer did all the checks,or so he said and told me i needed new actuator which he gave me under warranty. when the part came in i said i would put it in myself as i had no way to haul the bike in at the time.he handed me the part and i went home to install it and found a loose ground on thje engine, tighten it up and problem solved,it has worked fine all summer.still have the spare though!

Bushpusher,
Good advice! Now where was this ground wire that you tightened? Was it located on the frame or the engine? Was it near the front or rear of the quad? Hi or low? I would definitely like to check for loose wiring, but don't know which wires to check.

FYI: The controller is a little black box located under your seat (near the cdi box).

do you know what it's called if I were to look it up on Kawi's parts list, or even a part#?? What exactly does it do??
Yea I would love to know where this ground is, as 1st stated I have replaced my actualator twice now (on the 3rd one) & have replaced them all, but I never saw a wire going from the wiring harnes to a ground on the block, so more insight would be great..

P/N is 21175-1098...called "control unit-electronic"...don't know exactly what it does.
Bushpusher,
Please respond and let us know where you found the loose ground wire which solved your 2wd/4wd flashing problems.

Why has Kawi not recalled/fixed the actuators? Both of my machines have 3 years of warrenty but I will not keep a quad which requires repairs as stated in this thread. I am starting to think Suzuki has a substancially better belt system vs my Kawi set up.

the ground that was loose for me was the main ground from the battery to the block,i was surprised that it even started at all.but in my experience check all grounds that you can find and be sure they are clean and tight . i would even coat them in dielectric grease .

are there any numbers on the parts themselves or company names kawasaki prolly doesn't make the electronic parts. sometimes if your lucky you can find the company that makes them and they may stock it as a regular part and it would prolly be cheaper. if there are any numbers or anything post them

FYI: If its not caused by a bad 4wd actuator, it might be a bad controller. I'm having problems with 2wd/4wd engagement right now and so far my "stealer" has replaced the KEBC actuator and now is replacing the controller to see if that fixes the problem. This is getting very expensive!
