Exhaust Warp Thoughts,, Revisited
Around the first week of August I put up a post to share my experience putting header/exhaust wrap on my quads exhaust system. Well after this past weekends hurricane ride and logging in around 5oo plus miles on my quad with the wrap, It was starting to look a little rough. I decided as I was cleaning my quad to take it off and maybe re-wrap it? The challenge with running wrap on an ATV is riding conditions. When the wrap gets wet it has a tendency to hold moisture in, Meaning rust and corrosion can set in on the pipes! Well I figured if I let the quad idle after riding in wet conditions or cleaning it, this would help in allowing the wrap to dry? Well in just a little over one month of riding rust and pipe corrosion has already started to set in on the pipes. With a good scrubing I was able to get most all of the rust/corrosion off, but my pipes are still fairly stained. If your running wrap I would give it a second thought BIG TIME! and like some had mention in the first post, after-market ceramic coatings are the only way to go if this is something your thinking about? Maybe even just leaving the exhaust alone in the first place?~lol. -coop
