Yeah I have a 1988 tecate 4. It really is a bad a$$ machine. I ride mostly in the woods and the only real pain in finding woods protection and general parts. Thank god for E-bay.

 

i like my gas gas and i havent raced anything that is faster than it. the YFZ might have been mre fun but the gas gas is faster and well just as fun but with the YFZ u could do more things, mre of a stunt type quad.

 

i had an 87 tecate,stock pipe,muffler, just a set off reeds.man ,did it have some top-end pull! my 1st. quad was an 86 quad sport,high comp. piston,cam,roost boost(haha),pipe,open lid,k&n,all that stuff.it ran good. went to look at the tecate,nice clean,well taken care of,took a ride , WOW ! had to buy it! im still hooked on the 2-stroke bug. bought it for 1500,sold for 1600 1.5 years later. I WANT MY QUAD BACK! i do like my r better, better balanced machine overall. a fully modded tec 4 would be f-ing mean though. im out[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

I'm a fan!!!! Wish I had one. I'm lookin for one but most are out west. I would definately drive that far to get one for sure. My uncle used to have one. I think it was an 87. It was the first new atv we sold when we opened up our Kawi dealership. He love that atv. He said you could do a wheelie on it, then gas it and get it up on one wheel! He said they were scary fast. Only Tecate I ever rode was a damn 3 wheeler and I hate those machines. To scary for me. I like 4 wheels. I got some original brochures from 87 or 88 of the Tecate 4's. Damn nice lookin green machine. I love that pop up headlight. I keep tellin myself, SOMEDAY, I will own one. I won't hold my breath though. haha
