Default BF airbox problems?

I've heard a couple people say they've had a problem with water being throne off the tires and into the intake. Fact, Fiction, Solution? Got a big ride comin' up and I wanna be ready!

This seems to be one of those 50% deals.... half the people complain about it, the other half claim that they have no problem. I suspect that it is related to how you hit the water / mud.

If you go flying all ***** out into a deep water hole....then...no offense but you deserve to take on some water! On the other hand, if you're careful and still get water where it's not supposed to be then I feel for you. I've gone through some fairly deep mud but I tend to avoid deep water. I've never had a problem. Some people have installed home-made splashguards and stuff like that.

Wait for other responses, but the jusy is still out on this because it still seems to be a case by case basis.

I suggest just traversing water carefully and not too fast and then you'll likely be fine. IMO, many problems that any quad owners have is when they start screwing around in water that is 3++ feet deep. I just stay out of it or crawl through it. Guess I'm a sissy...but I'd rather play it safe. If you ruin something with water it will be very obvious to the dealer / Kawasaki and they may not honor warranty coverage. Just my 2 cents...

Mike

funny thing about it is that was one of the selling points my salesman used, "they turned the intake snorkel around backwards so it is less likely to suck water" . I suspect it has everything to do with how hard you hit it and how much you rev it up when you're in deep.

Yes, I got water in my intake. Look down from your intake to your tires its a straight shot no protection or guard. My BF is at the dealer right now getting a snorkel put on and they might put some kind of guard on. I'm not sure I told them to just do what they thought was best. We didn't get in that much water but yes we splashed a little bit, we didn't just cruse through the water we had fun and that's what I bought it for. If I wanted to just ride around the neighborhood I would have bought a golf cart but I wanted a ATV. Its just a flaw that the BF has and everything has its flaws when it first comes out.

Goto my website, goto the video section. Look for the snorkle videos, download them both and see how I snorkled mine. I redid my snorkle like the "new snorkle" video. It works awesome in the water, look at my video, "Brutes at play."

Do a search for "Flawed Air Box design" and "snorkles" on this website and read up.

I drive my quad hard in the water, I don't baby it at all. The deeper the water the better.

I'm not sure. I just left it there and they were going to figure something out. I called back and he said that they were going to call Kawasaki and see what they say.
