finally got my v-force
wreckage, welcome and congrats on your new "V". The break-in of your machine is a somewhat controversial subject being there are different methods and thoughts on the subject. I personally broke my "V" in the "Motoman" way though some believe this is the wrong way. This is the website to read up on the Motoman break-in method: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
The IMPORTANT thing to remember IF you go the Motoman way is to WARM UP THE MOTOR FIRST as is stated in his artical. Please don't just read this "Motoman method". You should read your instruction booklet that came with your quad as well as anything else you can find on the topic and then make up your own mind. By doing a search on this forum (and others) using the key-words "break-in" you should get quite a bit to read on the subject. Good luck and don't kill yourself on that new toy of yours.......he, he, he.

I say Warm it up, not letting it overheat. Ride a little consrvative for 1-2 hours. You can give it 1/2 -3/4 throttle in spurts, allowing engine rpm to rise and then let off, rev, let off, rev, let off, rev, let off. Then you can punch it hard and approach top speed, but don't hold it wide open for a while....let off and allow the compression to slow the machine.....do that for the 3rd and 4th hour, and then I think it's basically broke in.....
What you don't want to do is totallly baby the thing. Give it some gas, in spurts...
After 8- 10 hours you can flog the thing with confidence...
Also, if you ride sand while breakin it in, it will drastically change how much the engine is worked....Of the two new quads I've bought in the last two years, even after 20 hours of use, the first time I took them to the sand, I smelled new paint being burned off.....after only 10-20 minutes of sand time....so what does that say for how hard the sand worked a machine.
So , except while in the sand, ride the thing, don't beat it, don't baby it, treat it normal, and maybe be a little conservative as far as revving it out all the way, and if you do, just back off and let the compression help break it in...
This is what I've done with my 660 raptor and my P700, and they both run awesome, stock....
