I had a 700 EFI and I liked it a lot, but I totalled it. I purposely bought the BF because this time around I wanted more speed. If I wanted to tool around at slow speeds, Polaris 700 or 800 EFI would have been the better choice, except for the "rocks in a cement mixer" sound they make. You want bias? I'll give you bias lol. I just picked up my new Brute Force from the dealer for the 8th time, today, and it still isn't fixed. I took it in because the KEBC actuator motor won't shut off, now it won't even go into 4wd and it has exactly 10 hours on it, and it's never been in the mud or water, just dust. The part they claim it is this time is the main brain and it's on backorder from Kawasucki. These guys are just guessing at it and it's pissing me off. They tell me to bring it in, order a part, wait 7 days and then tell me, that wasn't it, now we think it's the fill-in-the-blank part. by the way, that part is on backorder also. I didn't want to wait for the new Polaris 800 because they said it would be Thanksgiving before they arrived. Well here it is Thanksgiving almost and I still can't ride my BF. That's BS! (but I can beat a Polaris in race LMFAO!) I've had this thing since September and have go to put 10 hours on it, 5 of those have been since it's been broken.

oh, I had the stock CDI out of it when this happened (I have a Dynatek CDI), I put it back in and it is still doing the same thing so I don't think it's that. I was told there is also another brain box under the seat different than the CDI that controls the 4wd and KEBC actuator motors.

Wileycoyote,
I've been through the Rubicon trail several times in a Jeep, and if your wife rode a Sportsman to Spider Lake, she rocks. Good for her. That picture is kind of mellow for what is on the Rubicon though .
silverbullet2005,
You say that utility ATVs are built for rocks, climbing, towing, and plowing, ... but that is not entirely true. The Prairie was built with speed in mind, that is why it has a center of gravity that is so much lower, a lower seat height, a solid rear axle, and a lot of other features I wont bother to go into. Now some of us bought our ATVs for speed, and some of us didn't (even with utility ATVs). Most people are smart enough to figure out that the Prairie is a fast ATV, so almost everyone that has bought one did so because they know it is fast, and they WANTED a fast ATV. The Sportsman is not fast, so the people that bought a Sportsman bought it for some other reason besides speed. There in lies the conflict.
You don't want Prairie riders to expect you Sportsman riders to demand speed, so don't expect us Prairie riders to not demand speed from our Prairie. As for myself, ... SPEED IS MY FRIEND

Its hard to see the brute having all of these problems but what can you expect from a new quad. I make the cam for the 750 engine at the kawasaki plant and it sucks to see people slaming my work. lol I dont care I still make my paycheck. The electrical part is Nebraskas deal. Also dont try to compare a polaris to a kawi. There is no comparison. Kawis are going to come out on top at this day and age. Till polaris makes something for the SPORT part of it. Kawi will allways do what a sportsman can do and more. Im sorry to hear about your brute being in the shop so much. Thats just part of buying a new quad. Wait till we get the kinks worked out. But my engine is working just fine.
