Default Elka Struts for the prairie

Has anyon tried these yet. I have seen a couple of posts, but everyone just keeps arguing about weather or not elka has released struts for the prairie. I have seen them on Ebay. They sell a complete strut/spring assembly. I wanted to know how they handle?

Here is the link to them on Ebay.

Default Elka Struts for the prairie

Hi Guys
I have the elka's on my 2004 Prairie , I put the kit on as elka sent it to me . It come's with 4 springs , 2 are ride springs and the other two are hard compression and the kit comes with a plastic coupling that joins the upper and the lower toghter . when I put it toghter like elka said the the springs SQUEEKED & CREAKED to no end and the they made a Twangee sound also.
I called elka , they told me that was normal and they would breakin ...NOT . I had to machine my own custom couplings out of 6061 aluminum with teflon seats ...even elka called me and want to know if I fixed the problem .
I would not recomend the springs if you want a quite ride , but they do ride nice ...Now .
Later Guys

Hi sox interesting story, I have a set of progressive front springs that every one said I needed but after changing tires found that handling was great. I still have them setting here and wonder if I just wasted money. I think I may put them on one day but can tell you there is no way I can gain an advantage unless I have wings or nitro. LOL

Minimus,
There is no doubt that changing the tires will make a huge difference in a Prairie's handling compared to the stock tires. However, I think the Progressive springs also add to the handling for fast trail riding/XC racing. These springs are especially noticeable when I slam on the brakes at high speed or make sharp turns at high speed (helps reduce front end dive). Its also a plus when you land a big jump or hit whoops at a fast pace (I bottom out the front struts less often). So I recommend that you go ahead and install the Progressive springs and see for yourself how much better your quad can be for fast paced trail riding or XC racing. If you mostly spend your time doing casual trail riding or going deep in the mud pitts, then I would say that you are not missing much with the progressives IMHO. Just my 2 cents...

Happy trails...
