Default Reverse light sensor on BF

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust when the reverse light comes on , my shifter is adjusted the way it needs to be so I am not intereseted in adjusting the shifter rod , I can adjust it and make my reverse light come on but at that point it will pop of of low range going down hills , so I have readjusted my shifter to where it takes all gears at a good point, now I need to get my reverse light working , I know there wires connect next to the floor board on the left side , there is a plug that can be removed right above the sensons but I have no idea if there might be something in there to adjust.

On my 650, the reverse light uses a switch off the tranny (same as the neutral safety switch).
