tecate balanced?
#1
Does the engine on the tecate-4 have a counter balancer? Is there any common problems with these machines? I`ve heard about the handling, but I`m not interested in MX. Just the trail. I`m thinking about getting one. I`ve had hondas & quadracers. I want something differnt than every one else. Thank you

I've had mine for about 2-3 years now. The person whom I purchased it from said it was built to the max for racing. I'm a heavy guy, around 290, and I've raced my friend on his 250r three wheeler (mostly stock with exception to pipe) and can pull 3 lengths ahead of him up until 4th gear, thereafter he starts catching up.
In a nutshell, I find my Tecate to be a pain in the *** for trail riding. I'm constantly in 1st gear so that I can stay in the power band. I've got the smallest front sprocket I could find (11 I think) with 20" tire, it still won't wind 6th out that well, I may have a carb tuning issue.
Not to mention it'll suck a tank of gas down in an hour or so. I enjoy my DS much more than the Tecate for trails.

yes Jason your tecate does have a balancer it is the very front part of your motor. If you ever spilt your cases it must be in the right angle to allow them to come apart. To tell that out you ned to take off the elect side of your eng,and remove the triganle cover to see it.
Any other questions just message me i'll be glad to help,i have been racing mine for 10 years now so theres not much i havent torn into on this thing. Mine has extended a-arms LRD preped eng. high rev pipe works shocks 2+2 axle ,lonestar swingarm. been riding in the VET and now im also into the A class in local races.

Like I said, I think there is a carb issue, because it doesn't want to idle very well either, it's out of commission right now (waiting to buy some adjustable arms and a shock from Scott). Then I'll work on the carb.

there was a race in imlay city couple weeks ago as part of a 6 event schedule and sept 23 being the final race. next year were hoping there will be more events around here. The races are put on by BEARBOTTOM SALAVGE FROM CAPAC MICHIGAN give him a call and have your name put on his mailing list to get all the papers to let you know when they start next year.
