Prarie VS. Scrambler
Excellent point NovaKaw650. It was a bad choice of words on my part.
When I said that the front and rear come unlocked, I should clear that up by saying that as the quad goes around a corner, the front wheels have to travel a longer distance. This causes the front wheels to try overrun the rear wheels. This causes the drive line members between the front and rear to be torqued in just the opposite direction (my unlocked statement). This comes from the front tires trying to send torque back to the engine and rear tires (or equivlently the rear tires and engine attempting to drag the front tires). After coming out of the corner, engine torque is supplied only to the rear tires, until they slip enough to allow the backlash to be taken back up and the torque to be transfered again back to the front wheels (my locked statement). If there is a compliant mechanism between the front and rear, it causes the slip to be more. This slipping of the wheels and the torque transfer from front to rear is one characteristic of a locked 4wd system. The end result is that at least two wheels will slip as the quad goes through the corner. If the front differential is locked, 3 tires will slip on a corner. A Scrambler on the other hand allows the two front tires to over run the rear on a corner, so only 1 tire (usually the inside rear wheel) slips on a corner. My point is that there is a lot of slipping of tires going on in a locked 4wd system, so when we look at the slip of the Scrambler tires when the 4wd kicks in, it is inconsequential in most cases and definitely benificial in corners.
I hope this clears up my statement.
Have a good day.

heh, if u think they killed the p650, try 26in 589's on a sp700....
in a 1/4 mile....it gets up to a whoppin...54 mph.....they killed it.
w/ stock tires i think it would be right about even, theyd both just stay side by side.
cmon guys, give the scrammy a break here- a 500cc at 572lbs (might be off
and a 650cc at 604 lbs.
give that scrammy some credit
