Spider & Buttons
#1
I need to replace the buttons on my prairie, and while I was looking at the primary clutch I noticed the rollers on the spider (the rollers that the weights slide up and down on) have worn grooves into them, my dealer told me I should replace the spider as well, does anyone know if I should replace the spider as well?

no cant purchase them seperate. All the weights do is travel back and forth on the rollers, if it needs to be replaced that's fine but if it's not big deal I'd like to save myself some $$$ I'm guess everyone's spider has groves in it after 1000+ miles I just dont know it they get to a point where it could be a problem...

I just pulled my primary clutch (to do the top-speed prim. clutch mod) and while it was apart, I inspected my shoes and the rollers on the spider. I didn't notice any grooves on the rollers. There was a darkish mark all the way around the rollers where the weights rub, but I don't recall seeing any grooves. I have about 1500 miles on my quad at this point.
How deep are the grooves on your rollers and how many miles do you have on your quad? Did the rollers spin freely or were they corroded and hard to spin? Mine still spun ok, but I cleaned them up and put a little graphite power on them before I reassembled them.
