no problems here, but I also noticed a drop in speed when I had my new belt installed. With the old belt and 27" Titan 589's speedo says 62, gps says 65 and when i put the new belt on speedo says 58 and gps says 62 in 2 or 4wd. As for the noise, I'm not sure what you're referring to, The only noise I hear is the constant whine of the belt... that is the ONLY complaint I have about my 02 650. also, my new belt has slipped since the day it was installed.

stillahondafan,

Something must be out of wack, go back in the belt housing and look around before you really hurt something. Does it creep in gear which means you have it real tight, if it doesn't, try tightening it up some more. New belts streatch at first.

Gougeonit, the whine is the square-cut gears like nascars have, not the belt, your new belt shouldn't slip either.

hi again, the nosie is like its hitting its rev limiter only worst and coming from the belt housing and louder never had it happen before, mine is also a 02 650, i have no idea what it could be, but really need to find out .nope it dont creep at all, u punch the gas in low or high 2wd or 4wd, slips constanly, but im really worried out this noise, when she hits 87kms make the noise and drops way down to 70kms, its like maybe the belt is jumping ahead of the pulleys?

if it is an '02, the bushings were prone to wearing out, causing the sheeves to wobble, & eat belts... I'd check it, even if it is an '03, as it can still happen, but less frequently, & the '03 & newer ones are rebuildable... there should be no side to side wobble in the movable sheeve on the secondary...

newbeatle the 02 movable sheaves are also rebuildable. Press in the proper size oilite bushings and hone to fit. Machine shops here do it for $50 or less if you can't do it yourself. Do it yourself for less than $20, the cost of the bushings.

hi, i had 4000kms on the bike when i replaced the belt, i have 4126kms since the new belt was put on that nots many for having problems like this for a new belt, when i got the new belt put on, i told the dealer, to check everything,he said everything was great, just that the old belt had cracks in it, so ever since the new belt has put on, ive been having this problem, slipping more and more, loss of speed, makes lots of noise full trottle in 4wd when i reach a certain speed,it feels like the belt is jumping past the pulley but not sure, just a guess........... also i have 02 650 cameo

Who is your dealer, take it back and tell them to fix it, sounds like they screwed it up, maybe a dog is sticking, maybe they left a screwdriver in there, who knows. If you look at it first you might see the bushing gone and then know it was nobodies fault but Kawi's design.

Get her fixed either way,

I agree,it sounds like your problems go deeper than just a belt..I have seen where some guys have replaced their belt and shortly thereafter some of the cogs came off. They said lt sounded like rocks inside the belt cover. It was supposedly because of a bad batch of belts.Makes me want to wait for a while before I buy another belt.
How many miles is 4000kms approx??? I forgot the conversion.
