I did it, it was great, only at the time I didnt own a helmet and had to borrow one to take the class. Bring a helmet, gloves and some riding boots. They will make you feel silly if you wear regular shoes....... I was suprised to meet people who had bought ATV's and never rode one at all before the class. 100 bucks paid for my helmet too :-)

 

Been thinking about this and would add that when I took the course the weather was quite warm. The info that was sent had mentioned about the gloves, helmet, boots and long pants. They also had requested the quad be in condition to be ridden with oil, fuel and tires being in shape. They also stressed that there were no services at the training site and everyone should bring what they needed with them. Some people apparently did not read the letter as one guy wore tennis shoes and shorts and a girl showed up with no helmet. They were not allowed to take the course. Also a couple of people showed up late and were turned away. I had the cargo box on mine and always have plenty of bottled water in it. This came in handy as during the break everyone was thirsty and most hadnt brought any water with them.

Consider contacting the trainer for any requirements they have and be sure to take clothing appropriate for the weather.

 

I never got my $100. The $100 is only good if it's your first ATV, or so they told me. So when you go buy a new one, act like you really don't know much about ATVs and they'll set you up for the training class and you'll get your money. But I bought a 2002 Prairie and they set me up for the class......but time drug and they kept cancelling the class. After owning the 2002 Prairie for a couple of months, it was stolen. Insurance paid off and I was able to get a 2003 Prairie. Well, by the time they finally got the course scheduled, they said it was my second ATV and I wasn't eligible for the $100. I argued that the training class for my first ATV was never scheduled and that I consider the class to be for a first time owner. They finally said OK and I took the course. But I never got my $100.

if you haven't been certified in the ASI course, you're still entitled to the $100 when you take the course. I would look into this. Something doens't smell right. This money would be sent from the manufacturer as soon as they receive record from ASI that you have successfully completed the class. I took the course after I bought my DS, which was my 3rd new ATV.

 

Maybe I should contact Kawasaki about that. I got the little card in the mail, but maybe the instructor didn't file my information.
