fuel filter tip
#1
It might seem obvious to some people, but if you put a fuel filter on your machine, a gravity fed machine that is, put it pointing downward under the fuel tap, not horizontally next to the carb. I put mine horizontal and cant get the air out of it and it ends up starving for fuel. I have a new hose and will put it straight down so gravity can do its job.
The reason I got one is my fuel tap/petcock came apart internally, and send rubber pieces into my carb. What a mess. I will never run a four wheeler without a fuel filter ever again.

400... that is a good point... I run a see through one sideways on my big Prairie, but have no problems, since it has a fuel pump... I added my fuel filter, after I had a piece of machining plastic scrap from the gas tank, "cork screw" it's way into one of my jets, after a year & a half of riding my quad... it cost me competing in one of my mud races, so the see through filter insures that that won't happen again...

I just fixed it, turns out it was a combination of a sideways filter and a cheapo filter with a hole in it sucking air. I went back and sprung for the 4 dollar wix paper element filter, its a bit bigger but she runs like a striped snake now. My fuel issue cost me months of troubleshooting, 3 trips to the dealer and a holiday trail ride that I canceled out on. bummer.
