A can of WD40 goes along way. Im not being a smart a$$ either. Alot of people dont know it but WD40 was actually created for the military for Water Displacement. Thats where WD comes from. And on the 40th attempt that is what they came up with. So Water Displacement 40th blend. Is good for things like that. Just some light hearted FYI in this hostile thread.

Thank for the advise. Not much of a technical guy, but how can I get it down into the cable where it splits? I tried forcing some down from the top, but it seems as though it's not getting anywhere. It looks like a load of work to pull the cable off. Any suggestions?

Actually I havent gone real deep into my choke. I use the little red spray nozzle that comes with it and spray the hell out of it while working the choke back and forth. I dont know how far its getting but Ive never had a problem yet. I kind of do a pre-trip inspection from time to time and do little things like that. I guess the little things help since I never have any issues. Hope this helps.

Alot of people do this but some dont. If it helps anyone its worth typing so here it goes. Before I go on a trip to ride, I look the bike over starting in the front looking at the quad as I approach I look underneath, check for leaks, any hanging debris, check radiator to see if it need cleaned. turn on lights (low then high) , pull out on each tire to check for excess play, grab springs and shocks and pull to make sure there not loose or broken. check lugs make sure none are loose or rusty, check tires visably (thorns, screws, tears, inflation, ect). Visably inspect brake rotors and pads for excess wear or dirt. remove top cover where radiator cap is, look at snorkles make sure rubber flap or debris isnt blocking airflow. remove radiator cap (when cool) make sure its full and fairly clean (not rust colored) replace cap. I spray all cables working them at the same time, ie Choke, brakes, throttle, and foot brake. check air filter for excess dirt, leaves or any debris. Clean if needed. when air filter is removed I usually use a clean dry cloth and wipe out carb stacks as well. Remove seat check battery connections (tight and not corroded) check for bare wires or dark spots around area that would indicate excess heat. Replace seat and make sure the middle latch is secured as well. (alot of people dont even notice that one). look at the coolant window to check level. Reach in and and check plug wire connection. Check CVT vent clamps (tight no leaks). Check oil. (dont overfill, it will be in your airbox) In rear I do all the same as the front, Check light, and brake light. Also In the front you will often get a squeek when you get on the quad. a couple shots of wd 40 in the rubber grommets where the suspention pivots will fix this while working it up and down. Check exhaust for holes or leaks. Start quad and listen for any strange sounds. Hold brake and put in all gears (you shouldnt have to give it gas to get in gear or its probably your idle is to low. If it grinds into gear your idle is probably to high. Or linkage needs adjusted. Put in forward gear and let roll a few feet and hit front breaks, then roll a few more and hit the rear. Make sure they work and feel adjusted right. This seems like alot to do before a ride but actually once you have a routine it goes real fast and you will have alot more fun trips with alot less worry of breakdowns. I do it the same way every time starting at the front of the bike and working my way back. I have yet to have a breakdown of any kind. I have caught many things doing this that would have been a problem on the trail and potentialy ruined my day or even weekend. For the guys that already do this Im sorry to bore you. For the guys that dont I hope this helps. (I may have left out a thing or two since Im not looking at my bike right now. (like rear brake oil) ect but thats a good start.

Yo Mikey,Man with your superior engineering ability you should do us all a favor and offer your talents to Kawasaki. Go make some big bucks and fix all those design flaws you point out. With your vast knowledge of engineering and design you could make $250,000 a year easy.Or better yet go buy a Polaris and then you will have a reason to whine

Did you read the posts? I never said I was an engineer nor do I play one on TV.

Guess I'm just a whiny customer that should just accept the fact that my $7500 4 wheeler is a little suspect in it's build quality and execution. My bad, how dare I require expensive products I buy to be TOP quality. What an idiot I am. That's fine, apparently the industry as a whole is soooo bad that people have just learned to sccept the junk that is pumped out by these companies.

Next time, I'll just mail a check to Kawasaki because they are sooooo deserving.

Like I said, I wish I had started an ATV company, you suckers will take anything and overpay for it. Then, when it breaks, I can just say it's your fault and you should expect it.

Great guys....

Out my a$$? Ummm.... it doesn't take a degree in physics or something to realize when something is crap. Perhaps it is you that needs the extra education?

Cheap parts are cheap parts...period. Knowlege is gained from experience and my experience has been that this quad is generally not very high quality. Which part don't you you understand???

It's s simple concept really, stop trying to self-justify your blind love to Kawasaki...what do you own stock in them or something?

I would'nt consider suzuki top quality or any of these quads. I bent my tie-rod shaft and handbars without doing any extreme riding or jumping, and bent the shaft back by hand in a vise (sad). Seems your problem is the cold, my key and 4x4 button freezes from riding in the snow and i have to blow on it to loosen it up, but thats expected.
