Clutch question.
#1
A machinist friend of mine said if I can bring over my clutch and beer he will do the top end clutch mod for me tommorow. I dont have a clutch puller and dont really have time to get one. Tommorow is about the only day he will get a chance for a while. hes going on vacation for two weeks and nailing him down is hard to do. Is there any easy way to remove the clutch without the puller? Do the sheaves have to be seperated to do it (which I assume needs another special tool)? Do both sheaves have to be done Like .030 off both sides or would .060 off one side work just as well? I have an 02 prairie (old clutch) can I take the difference I need off the contact patches or does the whole plate need to be milled and adjusted with washers? any info on this project would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin.

Thanks. I got it off and brought it to my friends house he was pretty busy so hes doing it at work in the morning. He is milling .030 off both sheaves. On my 02 I can only get .045 out of the contact patches so He's taking the other .015 out of the face plate. (just where it meets the spider) basicly taking a gap out so I dont need washers.
