Default Dynatek dissapointment....

I have a bone stock 700. It didn't feel like it was a machine related issue. I had a 400ex prior to this and had some jetting issues after making mods and this was very different. It definately felt like the CDI was bad. They were very quick to tell me to send it back to them and even offered to pick up all the shipping costs. I have read on this site and Kawieriders that most people who have stock machines can just plug it in and go with no issue. Lets hope they test mine, find a problem and send me back a new one that works.

I called again and talked to Dyna yesterday, and both CDI's that I sent back tested bad, and were of the same batch number. I am guessing you also got one of these. They told me they are out of stock right now, and the best estimate I was given was that I would see the new CDI's the end of February, possibly the first week of March. I hope so, as I am leaving for WV for a ride in mid-march.

Thanks Bull! It sucks that it will take that long to get a replacement. They received mine back today and just based on the dates, I bet you are right about mine being in the same batch. Hopefully, they are under promissing and over delivering with regard to the ship date and they show up sooner. I will let you know what I come up with once I talk to them.

I am in a simular situation. I had just received mine last weekend, installed it and the bike ran great. Went for a ride and it was really noticeable, than, after about 15 minutes, there was a pop from the engine and I lost all power. I shut it down and really had to fight to get it started again. Shut it down and put the stock CDI back in; bike ran fine. Just for kicks put the Dynatek back in and it ran like crap again. Called Dynatek Immediately and talked to Raymond. He said to send it back and he would see what happened. Called him again today and he said it definately failed internally and that mine was the 11th one with this problem. He asured me that they would test my replacement before they sent it to me and that I wouldn't have any problems with this one. He thinks it is a sub contractor problem( apparently they sub out the printed circuit boards and than add there own devices to finish it) Mine should be here by Saturday. Hopefully he is not feeding me a line, but just in case I will be carrying my original CDI at all times. At least they warranty the unit for two years. That tells me they have some kind of confidence in their product, so I am willing to give them a second chance even though I almost had a stroke when it quit on me!! I will let you know what happenes.

Default Dynatek dissapointment....

Recieved two new Dyna's on Friday, and have another bad one! One seems to work fine, and the other is just as bad as the first two. I went for a ride yesterday, and the working one seems to work great! I definetly notice a difference, however a little dissapointed that I was outrun by a friend with a new King Quad. I did not have the Dyna in at the time, my buddy was using it. I had him out of the hole, and stayed out front for 75 yards or so, but he overtook me on the top end. I have 26" mud-lites on stock wheels, and he is running stock 25" Dunlops and wheels. I would love to try again with the Dyna, and stock Dunlops and wheels on my machine. I am wondering if anyone else with a P700 has tried racing this machine. I think if I had enough power to use that new 9200 rpm rev limit that the Dyna offers, I may stay out front......

I forgot to ask for help on a small problem I have. On the 03 650, and P700's with the three plug ignition, there is a yellow insert inside each of the plugs that I now figured out compresses the weather-tight gasket guaranteeing a good seal. Well, stupid me, when I sent back my first two Dyna's, the yellow insert on my middle plug must have fell out inside the plug recess in the Dyna ignition, and I am pretty sure I sent it back with this small insert that is supposed to stay on the machine-side of the connector. Does anyone know where I can get this middle insert? I would be willing to pay somebody for one if anyone has a salvage bike. I looked at the parts diagrams on Kawi's website, and cannot find this part, only the entire harness. I may have to call Kawi and try to get one otherwise.

The Bull
All you should need to smack the Susie is your stock wheels and tires. Bigger tires rob horsepower.
With the Dyna it should be no contest even with the 26" tires.

Give your 700 some MORE attitude & change to the Dalton Blue/Orange Primary or better yet add the Mods in my signature. 67MPH is no problem . Only problem you'll have then is not flipping it on full throttle launches

Can't wait to get my Primary Sheaves & clutchplate milled & add the 700 belt. Should be 70+ then.

Several in our riding group had so many problems with the Dyna they gave up and went with the DG5 and have had no problems since. Seems like if you have a good Dyna you are ok however most still carry there stock cdi with them from fear of being stranded

Well, mine was bad too. Looks like I won't be getting a new one until late February early March. Totally bummed out about it. I have to wait on hold for long periods of time every time I call, one of the tech guys was pretty short and rude, and they have my $250 and I have nodda. Boy, I am not real happy at this point in the transaction. Hope they get their stuff together soon. They haven't made a totally disgruntled customer out of me yet, but I am getting pretty damn close.

You might want to save yourself a lot of hassle and just get the dg5. Some people complain cause you have to wire it, but that is better than dealing with bad cdi's, worrying about getting stranded, or rejetting over and over again. I no some people will argu after they spent so much on a cdi, but I have raced people with the same setup except my dg5 and there dyna cdi. I seem to always jump them at first and then only after 65mph do they start to creep up. I don't think the cdi performance was all it was hyped to be unless you have major mods for high rpm runnin. I not against the dyna, I just haven't seen any real diference except for the price! I hope they fix you up or at least refund your money.
