'03 650 belt problem & choke
#1
New to the forum ... glad you guys are here.
I have a couple of problems with my Prairie 650. In reading the forum posts, I think one of my problems may be a stuck choke. The bike backfires and sputters at high RPM. The backfire happens when I let off the throttle. The sputter (cutting out) behaves like the reverse limiter. This seems to be a common problem. Does anyone have a good fix?
Second problem (I am hoping) may be just bad battery. I got my 650 out this past weekend after letting it sit for 5 months. Had to pull start the thing to get it fired up. Then the belt light came on. Does a low battery have anything to do with the belt? Electric clutches? One more factoid -- won't go into 4x4 with bad battery.
If you ride the bike around with a belt light (just a few minutes), how bad do you tear it up? I'm not looking forward to the repair bill for the tranny.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Try some fresh gas in your tank and backing out your carbs mixture screws 1/4 turn each. Colder weather makes engine run lean. Do a search on the forum for battery. The prairie battery is a sealed unit. Seems like a floor scrubber battery was mentioned that was a suitable sub. Visit Nyrocs sight for belt light reset procedures & other helpful info. http://atv.dnsalias.com/
