Working on an 03 KFX80 with less than 10hrs on quad, bought new in 04. Started it today but couldn't get it to idle without the choke on. Even after riding around for awhile to get it warmed up, the thing would try to die if you let off the gas. Never had this problem before. I tried to adjust the idle screw on the side of the carb, the RPM's would change, but the quad still wouldn't idle very long with the choke off. It does however run great with the choke on, and idles perfect. Has anybody else delt with this problem?

 

Sounds like there is some trash in the carb, Usually if has sat for a while chances are some crud has settled in the carb and there is a blockage, Should be a easy fix, Carefully remove carb and fuel bowl and use a good carb cleaner inside and out and re-assemble and see if it is fixed or any better, If gets better you probably need to repeat the process again until it is cured[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
