looking at getting a 97 400 auto
#2
I like them, they are very reliable. My friend has a 97 and brother has a 2000. The 2000 has a bit more power but it smokes a 2004 polaris 400 (did it last week). I was riding it yesterday as a matter of fact. It has sat for 2 months and started on the first turn. It has alot of the good features like full running boards, reverse, water cooled. Is it 4x4? the only problem I see with the 4x4 is its not selectable, it is full time 4x4. Thats fine for work, mud, snow or transportation, but it takes a little bit of the fun factor out of it. If its in the right price range I wouldnt have any problems buying one. In fact Im thinking about buying my brothers for my wife.

My father has one and I have rode it once and a while over the last year and a half until I got my P 650, he thinks its great, and it is, starts easily runs smooth, tough, will outride the kodiak's, and very close to the ride on my 650, more than enough power for anyone looking to do some riding. You will be happy, I was looking for the same thing until I found a really good deal on the 650. I think he paid $3200 for his 97, 400, with 3500-4000 kms 2 years ago. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info guys.
I think it's a good deal. It's a 1997 400 Prairie 4x4. It comes with a 2,500 lb winch, H/T warmers, backseat & pegs, new Mudbugs. There is a little noise in the engine. The guy said it was because there was a little up and down movement in the clutch, although i'm not sure. The price is $2,400 CAD. I'm going to decide for sure by the weekend.
Thanks again.
