Default Mud Tires

I've never seen a company to set the price on a tire by its mud capabilities.????????? Ya a full mudder is more but neither of these tires is a full mudder. oh and 6-ply is 6 ply . No flats yet. Very durable tire. Durable enough that I would choose the 2-ton weight savings per tire over the claimed "unsurpassed puncture resistance" any day. As soon as we start to melt over here I'll make a little video of us in the mud and snow and everyone can see what a big difference there is between the 2 tires.

Nah...I should have clarified that. I meant that the 589 is advertised and sold as ITP's premier mud tire. The Lites are sold as a Good mud tire with better trail capability and lighter weight. It just wouldnt seem to make sense for ITP to have the Lites better in mud...they wouldnt sell ANY 589's then...would they?

Either way...it's all good!

I put 26" Mudlites on my 650 when I first bought my bike, and will never put another set of Mudlites on my 650. The Mudlites ride well, and are pretty good in the mud and snow, but they are way too soft and weak for the power of the 650. For a less powerfull bike, they are an excellent choice, but I'd stay away from them for the 650. I've had a few buddies with 650 & 700 that had the same type of problem.

I had to replace the right rear tire 2 times because it was cracking and shredding inside. You can see the pictures here. The pictures on this page except for the first picture, are pictures of the inside of my replacement Mudlite tire after 600 miles of ridding. The first picture is a shot of the original tire with 7 plugs in it due to the cracking.

For deep mud... typically your best choices are Outlaws, Mudzilla's, or Vampire EDL's... all of these tires are not in any specific order, by catagory, as lengthly debates often follow, & mud can be very different from area to area...

after the "big 3"... IMO, come tires like the 589's, Gators, Vampires, Mud Bugs, Mud Machines ( Bi / tri claws ), Mud Runners, etc...

after these other "big lugged" tires, again IMO, come the Bear Claws, Mud Lights, 489XT's, etc...

On the 27" Outlaws is the tread depth the same as the 28" Outlaws.
