New engine for mojave
#4
Ive seen a few mojave's with a Ninja-500R engine in them. if you search for "ninja 500 mojave" on a search engine you may find some info. that seems to be a fairly popular combination. a certain magazine even test rode a "mojave-500R" and it looked sweet. im not sure how well it fits in the frame tho.
amagine a 500cc street powered mojave......id love to own one lol.

I believe a Suzuki GS500 engine will fit in my custom mounts. After I get it going, I may look for a deal on a 500cc engine, but I doubt i will need any more power than the GS425 will provide.
Any engine that will fit in the frame should work, you just need good mounts, and the front sprocket Exactly where the original one was. Measure the front sprocket up from the frame, and out from the swingarm. This must be right. Chain alignment must be exact. Sometime you get the engine where it fits nicely, but the chain is off. All it takes is money, time, and someone with the right tools & skillz for the job at hand. We have that covered - I am a Mechanic and my friend Gary is a machinist. But is still not easy, there is a lot of stuff that has to be made & engineered. I would not use such a large engine that you have to Cut or Stretch the frame. You will have to cut the radiator down tube out of the frame for almost any engine swap, we did. If installing a bigger engine, more gussets & frame plates should be welded on for streagnth.

sorry flash...but we tore apart the engine last night...and its actually in really good shape. The kid that gave it to us was a total moron...it just needs new rings, and the kickstart spring was popped out...so he thought it was dead.
haha...we could probably get it to run with those rings but were opting to get new ones anyway.
FREE QUAD! hehe

hey chrisius
Replace the Intake valves before you put it back together, they are a known problem with mojave engines. Check the Cams real good, for scoring and/or blueness. If the top end on the mojave was built as good as the bottom, they would be a better quad.
