Default IG plastic on the 700 V

My better half wants to have fun too! Anyway she loves the Lava Red 700 I haven't told her this but it seems like I've seen alot about how the IG platic breaks like glass. Is this true or are some just rolling the quad the right way to do this. I would think that GREEN plastic would be the same as the IG silver or red. Let me hear your story. Thanks

Default IG plastic on the 700 V

My bike is green and I rolled it over on it's side at about 5mph the first week I had it. I never fliped a quad in my 7 plus years of riding but this bike has alot of torque and it just suprised me how quick it happened. I had to replace the front plastic because it snapped by the support rod and I cracked the rear fender where the bolts under the seat held them in place. it cost me close to $300.00 to replace the plastic after the first week of riding. It rolled on its side again while I was doning a donut but this time there was no damage other than some scuff marks. I love the bike and would still buy another one. Overall the plasic on the green and orange hold up well, better than my friend's KFX400. His is cracked and it does not align right on the bike. Stay away from the Limited edition plastic...now that has a big problem. I hear that plastic just shatters to bits not only from rolling it but rocks and tree branches an even break it.

What pisses me off the most is Kawasaki refuses to admit they have made a mistake with their limited edition plastic.

Not a good deal. My girlfriend isn't very jumpy for the Orange or Green. I would think the riding she'll be doing with it may not make a dif. I can't believe even branches would break the plastic.

Keeping her happy is the best way to go, keepin mind that the limited edition plastic is much more expensive to replace than the green or orange I believe a complete set of limitied edition plastic can cost you upto 900.00 for a complete set. I may be wrong but best wishes on what you decide to do. I hear the green ones are much faster...lol

I've been to that site (nice one, good info) and saw that. $900 for a set not sure what to do, maybe if I tell her that she'll change her mind. Thanks

You could replace the lava red ones with a red set from Maier Plastics http://www.maier-mfg.com/ I don't know how well they hold up but it's got to be better than OEM.
