Default Tires for BF750

Im planning to get a bf very soon, and was looking at tires, ones i liked so far are mudbugs 589's and gators.....

This will be mostly a trail bike, thus im not going to go for a pure mudder... But i still want to be able to go threw some nasty stuff. I have never had any of these tires, but last time i was out riding i saw a guy with 27" 589's on a stock grizz, and he went threw some nasty stuff with ease. So basicly what would be better in the mud outa these 3 tires? They all seem to be ok as far as trail riding, just wonderign about hte mud...

All 3 tires are excellent choices. The 589 is an excellent tire, but a bit on the heavy side. The Gators and the Mud Bugs are almost the identical tire. The only big difference is that the Mud Bugs are a lot lighter. A 27" Mud Bug is lighter then a 26" Gator.

I'm pretty sure that you will be satisfied with any of the 3.

I hope to pick up a Brute 750 by this weekend and would also like some advice on tire selection. I have read on this and other forums that the Brute really benefits from C series wheels to widen the track up a little and new tires. I live in the desert so mud is not on my list, but rocks and sand are. Does anyone have any experience with tires that tame the Brute but will also work well on dirt and rock.

You guys are gonna love your Brutes. I just got a camo one about a month ago and am also starting to think about some real tires. I just wanted to reply and "subscribe" to this thread so I can see what suggestions everybody else has. I too would like something that will improve the handling (radials) and traction for mostly trail and occasional deep(?) mud, without sacrificing much acceleration and top speed.

I have 27" 589s on my Grizzly (in the winter time) and 26" Gators on my Brute 750 (all the time) and as a general purpose tire I like the Gators better. Both are very tough, hold up well on rocks however I think the Gators ride a little better and the tread wraps around some so you have tread on the side of the tire too which I believe helps. The 589s (at least the ones I have which i got 3 years ago) do not have any tread on the sides at all...

I'd vote for Gators.

589s and Gators are both very capable of handling mud but are not in the same league as the top of the line mudding tires, but then you probably wouldn't want top of the line mudding tires if you do a lot of trail riding. I can't comment about Mudbugs since I have no experience with them.

I give Gators the edge over the 589s for trail riding use because I think they don't ride quite as rough and because the tread wraps around a little on to the sidewall.

See what they look like here:

Grizzly with 27" 589s

Brute Force 750 with 26" Gators

I have Badlands XTR's and 1" wheel spacers on mine. Made one hell of a difference. I don't like the offset of the aftermarket wheels, and I don't want to run 7" wide rims front AND rear. This was the best choice for me, and it works well.

Scottd,

Why do you like the spacers over off set wheels? What are the advantages/disadvatages of each?
