Default Prairie starter problems

When I push the starter button on my Prairie 700, it often just clicks, without turning over the motor. I put a charger on the battery, which indicated that there wasn't a problem. Of course, the dealer was never able to duplicate the problem (it seems to only happen when I am by myself and 5 miles from the truck). The dealer replaced the starter relay (at a cost of $125), which did not remedy the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Should I take the battery to an auto parts store and have it professionally checked? Also, my Prairie is VERY cold-natured and difficult to start in temperatures below 50 degrees. Is this common?

well only time mine did that is when the negative battery cable was loose. Sounds like you probably checked that? Otherwise bad connection on starter. Wheres the click coming from? The relay? or the solenoid? Go from there...

Check both ends of your cables for tightness/corrosion. Don't assume they are tight on the other end. Definately load test the battery once you have eliminated loose cables & fuses & relays.

I 2nd that TUFENUFF right on, Oh i forgot 700cc, yes Praires commonly are hard starting in the cold, I should know I ride mine down to 0 degrees here. Typically the Air Jet is the culprit. Most come from the factory set around 1 1/2 turns, try setting them to 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 turns. They are located nestled in next to bowl of the carbs. You can adjust them with a small long flat head screw driver without taking anything off. I don't know if you have ever done this, but gently screw them in until they bottom out, then turn them out to 2 1/4 turns, this will help your starting and warming up.
