Is the belly pan skid slightly curved up, or did I bend it?

589650, I took that little rubber bumper off my stocker skidplate and put it on my stainless skid plate. Now that I've bent my stainless one a bit, it's squished in there real good!!
Plainsman, if you don't bend your skidplate back into shape it's no big deal. The only reason I would do it is if you do hit something hard with your plate already bent, there is no cushion there so you might crack your case (worse case scenario). If your plate is back where it should be and you hit something hard, it acts a bit like a cushion and could save you from a long walk outta the bush. The only reason they make the skidplates so wimpy is to stay at the magic #600 weight limit. With all the beefy plates and CV guards and other crap I have on my 650, it probably weighs more than a Polaris 700!!! Aluminum skids are nice, but if you do a lot of rock crawling, they aren't that great as the aluminum can get gouged pretty easy by rocks. That's why I built mine out of stainless. Rust free, looks cool, tough, slides over objects nice, but weighs a bazillion pounds.

You may as well get a Ricochet plate. I ruined a rear end swing arm boot and universals because it let water in, because the OE plate is not long or tough enough.
The ricochet is really tough aluminum. It has survived the rocks of Tellico and WindRock. The rear portion extends longer rearward protecting the Arm boot.
An another note, rocks will flatten your bottom frame tubes weakening them. I feel the skid plate replacement is a must. Top priority.
Also the OE plate has an opening where sticks and such can ram your oil filter from the bottom.
I just did my 100 hour oil change and it was no problem with the ricochet plate on.
Aboutt $100.00 now, will save you much more later. I say the first thig you will do is shread your swing arm boot. You better look at it often.

That Richochet plating looks nice but how do you service the oil and filter?

Oh yea, I have a warn plow mount on there as well, so it would need to integrate.
Thanks for the responses.

You will have to shop around. I think I got mine from Dennis Kirk. It's been a while but I got it shipped to me for 99.00 and change. I shopped hard and that was the best price. Some vendors were cheaper but wanted to rape me on shipping charges.
The plate has an oil drain plug hole and it lined up perfectly.
There is a slot in the plate under the oil filter I think to get a small oil filter wrench in there, or to make it a better shot for the oil to spill through. Not allot came out but I will put a few rags down hill from the slot next time to avoit cleaning up. I turned the front wheels to allow me to reach in and spin the filter off. Thank goodness I did not over tighten it after I did my 5 hour break in oil change. It's no biggie though. I am going to get one of those oil filter wrench caps that have a ratchet hole in the top center.
When I did my 5 hour change is when I really noticed the opening were rocks or sticks can contact the filter.

Thanks man. I took the stocker off and hammered it back. I doubt Ill ever get a stick rammed up there the way I drive, but you never know. I just spent 2 hours pulling kids around behind the atv
If you go to wally world you can get oil filters, either the STs or Pure1s. Then you can get the filter wrench cap there too for like $3. I just dumped in my Rotella T 5-40syn. Its 46 degrees here today! Beautiful.
Here is a list of filters the prairie 650 will use. I use the Pure1s or STs. There are filters too that are shorter that will work but I put on the biggest ones I can find. This change took 2liters + 1.5 cups to get the oil up to about 3/4 the stick.
About 3.25 inches long.
