700 Crank in 650
Hey fellas.I'm neck deep into putting the 700 crank in my 650 engine. Its been going ok up till today. The crank and new rods are all installed, the clearance between the piston and head looked good.I installed new timing chains, all going well untill I discovered the engine was hitting somewhere now.
Turns out that with the extra stroke the top studs on the rod caps come around and hit the intermediate timing shaft.I only have 2 options,,the first is to tear the engine back down and grind the heads of those 2 cap bolts to give me the clearance. The second is to turn the shaft down to get the room.I think that's the way I'm gonna go unless somebody here can give me a really good reason why not.
Anybody here had anything to do with the crank swap firsthand?Any advice is always appreciated.
