Default Ticking in the primary.

I have a 2002 P650, and the other day I parked my 650 up against a tree to see
if my 4WD was working. Been having problems with it, but when I flip the switch
to 4WD, as soon as I grab the differential lever, it goes into 4WD. Who knows?
Anyways, I got a little irate before figuring this out and nailed the throttle wide open.
I do have 28" TSL Vampires, and before the the tires spun out my belt was smoking.
Stopped before I did any damages and went on a ride with a few of my friends. Later
on that evening while riding 40MPH, I heard a flutter from the belt cover, and BAM, the
belt shattered into several pieces. Anyways, had my original belt and swapped it out.
But when I got home, I took the cover out to inspect the sheaves, cut the 650 on,
and now I hear a ticking noise in my primary. I do have the EPI white spring, soon
to be replaced with the Maroon, but I am not sure if I've heard the ticking before.
Just wondering if that's normal? I also want to know what the Y shaped tubes under
the carbs are, and if the end of the tube is connected to anything? Just noticed it
laying there, unconnected. Thanks for any help!!

If you have any miles on the 650, around 3K miles then the drive clutch is probably worn out.

It could be a couple things, I'd take the cover back off and make sure there are no pieces of the old belt floating around in there and also make sure the old belt you put on doesn't have a string hanging off it making the noise. Does it make the noise all the time or just at idle? If at idle, the wear shoes in the spider could be worn enuf for the outter sheave and the spider to be slapping back and forth is causing the noise, Kawi offers several different thickness replacment wear shoes(9 of them) but what I did was make some shims to put behind the wear shoes,,, alot cheaper than the $9.00 wear shoes!
