Best way to get the secondary clutch buttons in
#1
Hi Guy's I am going to mess around with my secondary clutch shims to get my deflection correct, the only tricky part I have seen with the clutch is getting the darn buttons back into there respective holes. I have seen on KOD's site he puts some grease on the end of a screw driver and sticks the buttons to that, but mine kept falling off the screw driver before I got them in. I ended up using a pair of looong needle nose pliars when one fell out the last time I had the clutch off but it took me like 15 minutes to get the one in.
Any tricks or insight would be appreciated.

First thing make an alignment mark across both sheeves of Secondary with a sharpie (marker) before you disassemble secondary clutch.
Remove snap-ring and Remove your buttons (put them in a container/tray so they won't roll off or get lost). Add or remove shims to your secondary
Get you a grease gun and give a small squirt of grease to top of each removed button and and coat each button by mashing grease around sides.
Align clutch back up to your alignment marks
Turn clutch so button hole is facing away from you, grasp one of the grease coated buttons & position small end of button in button-groove with the small end of button facing the button hole & push/slide button to the button hole using a skinny 6-8" common/flat blade screw driver, stand the button up with screwdriver blade and gently tap button into place (may have to slightly wiggle sheeves back/forth to help button slide in place while tapping on top of button.
Repeat procedure till all buttons are in place. I like to do buttons in clockwise steps starting at the 6 O'clock and rolling clutch to right & installing each button at the 6 O'Clock position. Grease will hold all buttons in place. You're now ready to reinstall snap ring.
Happy trails,

I found that just using my fingers worked best for me. Placing a little grease on both the buttons and my fingers I could hold the clutch assembly flat and guide them in with one hand on the top and one on the bottom. You can wiggle the two halves to get them to pop in. Just be sure to clean the grease of of the two halves before final assembly. This whole process takes seconds to do.

Fingers works the best. I pull my clutch apart, shim it and put the 2 halves back together. Slide a button into one of the grooves (after greasing appropriately) and wiggle the 2 halves until it pops into place. Once you get one in, the rest are a piece of pi$$. I tried with a little screwdriver and got so mad I had to drink. As soon as I tried with my fingers, it was no problem.
