Default 250 bayou starting problem

I had the same problem with my bayou 220. I put a new solenoid on it still did the same thing. I looked at all my wires and and took the ground wire that screws in the motor and sanded the end of the wire and bolt. When I put the bolt back in the motor the the nuetral light came right on and has been working fine now for about 8 months.

For the original poster's problem, I think the 'mexican' gave the most probable solution. Follow the black wire (ground) from the starter to the engine block. There could be either paint, rust or dirt causing a bad ground connection. Like 'mexican' said, sand off the contact area and let us know what happens.
