Went and looked at a KFX400 today...

This afternoon I went to a dealer and looked at a KFX400. Of course they wouldnt let me test drive it (due to liability issues they say, and yes, I'm 26). Kind of a bummer really that I cant get a test drive on one. They want $5700 for it, then an additional $1000 to get it out the door. I have a famr with 4 very large fields, but it also has an additional field that I can get to, but I have to drive up this grassy hill thats pretty steep. Its no big deal for my 6 wheel drive John Deere Gator, but I dont want to spend $6000 on a quad just to get it home and find out I can only take it on 85% of my property.
So I also looked at a Suzuki Eiger, which is cool, and 4x4, but its not as cool looking as a KFX400. The Eiger was selling for $5400, and I can get another person (like me fiance) on the back.
I dunno what to do. What do you guys think???

I agree, no test, no buy, but I am also wondering what the extra 1000 to get it out the door is for??? you should be able to get it out the door for 5700 total, sounds like someone is padding the profit margin a bit much.

Well down here in Tennessee, I just cross the state line to MS because I don't live there I didnt have to pay tax on the machine, and I got my V for 5900 OTD just a month ago. No other fees or anything, you are "supposed" to title it here in tennessee but then you have to pay taxes....so I didnt title it, and the fine for not titeling it is bogus anyway its like 30 bucks or something.

KidK9, if that Gator can make it up, the Kawi will to, and probably much faster to boot. The situation MIGHT change if you throw in snow or lots of mud though, especially if the Gator has 4wd/6wd.

I have never heard of any motorsports dealer that will let you test drive one.
As far as Eiger or KFX it all depends on what kind of riding you plan on doing. I have no regrets with my KFX I did consider going the Ute way but glad I did'nt, dont think I would enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed the sport quads.
